Previously, on Tomorrow Waits For No One: Frank wondered how he could get ahold of the jewels if Marcus really has amnesia.
While working with Dr. Park, "Gian" (Marcus) had a vivid childhood memory, being beaten by his father. When asked, Marcus led Dr. Park to believe he remembered being attacked by Leo Corelli. Marcus returned to his room to discover that Cole had been released. Cole promised to continue working on the case. Alone, Marcus remembered his criminal history and vowed to himself that he wouldn't let anyone know of his past.
Gail barged into Philip's office, declaring that Ann had ruined the surprise bridal shower by scheduling a day at the Lujoso spa. Philip decided to have Donna call Ann pretending to represent Lujoso, explaining that Ann has received complimentary limo service to the spa. Then he'll hire a driver to transport Ann to the Valley Towers Hotel for her surprise shower. Gail thanked Philip with a kiss, just as Rhonda entered the office. Philip introduced the two women, explaining that it was an innocent kiss. Rhonda was rude to Gail who left. Philip and Rhonda argued over the encounter.
Cole exploded when Police Chief Evans told him that, since Leo Corelli was no longer a threat, "Gian" (Marcus) would no longer have police protection. Evans reiterated that his decision was final and ordered Cole to get some R&R.
Frank visited Marcus and began dropping hints from Marcus's past. Marcus appeared to have some recognition but was still unclear.

University Hospital: Patient Room
Dr. Martinez arrives to update Marcus on his condition. "Gian, I have some good news for you."
"I could sure use some right about now."
"Well, your physical injuries have healed well enough that you'll soon be released," he reports.
Marcus appears crestfallen. "Released? Where will I go?
"Oh, don't worry," Dr. Martinez assures him. "We'll work with the hospital's social services department to help you find a job and a place to stay." He turns and walks toward the door. "I have to run now. Just wanted to stop by to let you know."
"Yeah," Marcus says unconfidently. "Thanks for the news."
Santa Lorena County Building: DA's Office"DA Benton," Philip says, answering his phone.
"Philip," Rhonda begins. "It just occurred to me that your soon-to-be relative, Nurse Renwick, seems to have purposely not invited me to Ann's bridal shower and I've come to find that it's scheduled for the day after tomorrow!"
"And good day to you, Rhonda."
"This is not a time for levity, Philip," snaps Rhonda. "Just because I won't be attending your sister's wedding doesn't mean that I shouldn't want to be present at her shower."
"I'm sure it was an oversight, dear," Philip argues.
"Oh, don't be naïve. That woman deliberately kept me off the invitation list."
"Why would you assume such a thing?" solicits Philip. "Gail doesn't even know you. She only met you the other day in my office. Granted, your behavior then would have been enough to dissuade her from extending you an invitation. But she'd already made the invitations last week."
"Gail most certainly knows me, Philip," Rhonda counters. "And I'm sure this is her way of getting back at me."
"What do you mean, 'getting back at' you?"
"If you must know," she sighs, "Nurse Renwick and I met last week at the hospital. We had words."
"Meaning?"
"We didn't clash, exactly. Another nurse and I got into a bit of a quarrel over a last-minute cancellation of my appointment," explains Rhonda. "Nurse Renwick took over and rescheduled me. But I'm sure she didn't like my attitude."
"I cant imagine why not," he retorts.
"Are you enjoying humiliating me?" demands Rhonda.
"No, darling. I'm sure you'll be welcome at the shower tomorrow. I'll ask Gail to give you a call to make it official."
"Well, thank you," a placated Rhonda replies.
"This whole thing may have been my fault anyway," Philip clarifies.
"How so?"
"Gail asked for my help in making the invitation list. I asked Roger to borrow Annie's address book and had Donna transcribe it. I should have looked it over to see if there were any glaring omissions. I apologize."
"Hmm. Well, if you insist. I suppose it is possible that Nurse Renwick didn't intentionally snub me," Rhonda begrudgingly admits.
"To make it up to you, why don't I pick you up for dinner tonight at 7?"
"That would be lovely, Philip. Meet me at my office?"
"I will. We'll have a lovely time and you'll forget all about this invitation business," he promises.
University Hospital: Patient Room
Cole pokes his head into the room, stopping by for a visit. "How are you doing today?"
"Well, I'm being released," Marcus remarks, still unsure about his immediate future.
Cole puts a positive spin on the situation. "Great. This will be an opportunity to put all of the ugliness of the past weeks behind you."
"Yeah, but, where will I go? What will I do?"
"You know," Cole states as if a light bulb just illuminated above his head. "There is a clerical position available at police headquarters. I'd be happy to put in a good word for you."
"Thanks Cole," Marcus replies appreciatively. "That's one lead. Now I just have to find a place to live."
Cole is hesitant to offer his apartment though as he fears their relationship is moving forward too fast. He wonders about the ethics of continuing the investigation when it has become obvious to him that he is falling in love with 'Gian.'
"Yeah," says Cole. "Yeah, we'll have to find you a place. I'll, uh, I'll see what I can do."

Gail Renwick and Paige Turner's Apartment
"Ugh. I don't want to do this," groans Gail. "It's bad enough that Rhonda Lynn has to be invited to Ann's bridal shower but why do I have to personally ask her?"
"That's simple, sugar," answers her housemate Paige. "Philip asked you to. And you'd do just about anything that man would want, I suspect."
"True," Gail concedes. "If only Rhonda hadn't barged into his office the other day. I can't stand that woman."
"Oh, honey. I've heard about her," Paige comments. "She's got quite a nasty reputation. I've heard rumors about her and the trail of men she's chewed up, spit out, and left behind. Well, there's no point putting it off any longer," Paige says, handing Gail the phone.
"I reiterate, ugh!" She begins to dial while Paige goes into the kitchen.
"I'm making a cup of tea," Paige announces. "Want a cup?"
"No, thank you," Gail yells back, returning her attention to the phone. "Oh, um, hello. Ms. Lynn?"
"Yes, this is she," Rhonda answers.
"Hi. This is Gail...Renwick. Um, from the other day at Philip's office?"
"Yes," Rhonda coolly responds. "I remember."
The tone of Rhonda's voice rubs Gail the wrong way. "I'm sure you do," she sneers. "Anyhow, I was calling to personally invite you to Ann Benton's bridal shower tomorrow afternoon. Apparently, Ann hasn't seen fit to enter her into her phone book."
"Hasn't seen fit?!? You listen here, nurse hot pants——"
"Nurse hot pants?!?" laughs Gail.
"You heard me!" Rhonda snaps. "There's something about you I don't particularly like. I get the feeling you're up to something."
"I can assure you, Ms. Lynn, the feeling is mutual. What Philip sees in you is beyond me——"
"What Philip sees or doesn't see is none of your concern," interrupts Rhonda.
"As to what I'm up to," Gail continues, "I'm helping to ensure that happiest day of Philip's sister's life is just that. Now, Philip wanted me to call you to ask you to come to the shower tomorrow. I've done that. Come or don't. I really couldn't care less. Goodbye!"
"Woo! Go girl," hoots Paige as Gail slams down the phone. "She won't be messing with you any time soon!"
"I don't know," sighs Gail. "I might have just poked a stick at a sleeping tiger..."
Sept. 14
University Hospital: Hallway
Frank arrives back at the hospital and, stopping short of Marcus's door, overhears 'Gian' and the social services administrator discussing housing options. After the administrator leaves, Frank quickly hatches a plan to get closer to Marcus.
University Hospital: Patient Room
He walks in appearing frustrated. "Hey, Gian."
"What's wrong, Frank?" Marcus asks.
"Oh, my landlord just raised my rent," Frank tells him. "I can barely afford to stay in my apartment now, but now I'll have to get a housemate."
"That's perfect!" Marcus joyfully exclaims. "I'm going to be released in the next day or two and I'll need a place to live. There's money available from social services to help set me up in a stable living arrangement, and I already have a lead on a job."
"Whoa. As it turns out, maybe you're my guardian angel," says Frank. "You could really save me if you moved in."
"Yes!" Marcus gladly accepts. "Hey, once I get settled, would you mind if I invited Det. Washington over?" Marcus requests.
Frank becomes visibly nervous. Worried that Cole will be suspicious of his motives, declines. "Uh, actually...I'd, uh, prefer not to entertain any guests."
Marcus looks at him quizzically.
"I mean...uh, you know, until the, uh," Frank stammers. "Until...the damage done during the break-in is repaired."
Frank gauges from Marcus's visible reaction that he is suspicious. "Okay, actually...the Detective and me? We had kind of a nasty argument when he came to investigate the robbery. I, well, I thought his investigation was pretty shoddy. He didn't seem to care much about my safety."
"Your safety?" asks Marcus, perplexed.
"Yeah. Well, you know. The guy who broke into my place attacked me and knocked me out. I wanted police protection and he flat out refused."
"Oh," Marcus comments, his spirits declining. "Well, I'm sure he had his reasons."
"Yeah, well, maybe he did," Frank agrees. "How 'bout this? Give me some time to make things right between us. I mean, if you're going to be living with me, I guess I shouldn't continue a feud with a friend of yours. I'll let you know once I've apologized. In the meantime, can you do me a favor and not mention that I'm the guy you'll be moving in with?"
"Well, I hate to lie to him," starts Marcus. "But I guess I can keep mum until you two patch things up."
"If you want, tell him you're moving in with a guy named Sam," Frank suggests. "It's my middle name. Franklin Samuel Cain. That way, you're not really lying."
"Shrewd, Frank," Marcus smiles, shaking his head. "I mean, Sam. Shrewd."
Valley Towers Hotel: Banquet Room
"Ick," groans Gail to her housemate Paige. "It's her" referring to Rhonda.
"Ooh, get a look at her," Paige comments. "Darlin', that woman could make crushed ice out of her ass."
"That would be her. Time to put on my happy face," Gail says through a forced smile.
She approaches Rhonda. "Ms. Lynn, I'm so happy you could make it, despite the last-minute invitation. And I'm sorry we got off on the wrong foot. I'd like to apologize."
"Yes, I'm sure you would," Rhonda cynically replies.
Gail takes a breath and steels herself. "I feel awful about the way our phone call went yesterday. I was surprised that Ann didn't have you listed in her address book. I guess you and she haven't had the opportunity to become very close since you began dating Philip."
Rhonda scowls at Gail.
"I mean, you have such a busy schedule," Gail continues. "And Annie runs in such different circles than you do."
"And which of Ann's circles do you run in?" Rhonda snidely asks. "I mean, as a nurse, I can't imagine you spend much time at the country club."
Gail bristles at the insult but continues to smile. "Why don't we join the rest for a little ice-breaker?" she suggests.
"It seems that we could certainly use one, couldn't we," Rhonda cattily agrees as they approach the other guests.
"You certainly could, bitch," Gail says under her breath.
Cole's Apartment
Cole calls Marcus on the phone. "Hey, I just wanted to let you know I've arranged an interview for the clerical position in the H.R. Department."
"That's great," replies a thrilled Marcus.
"And, uh..." Cole hesitates, readying himself to reluctantly propose that Marcus move in with him, but Marcus explains that he has found a roommate in town.
"Hey, I found a place to stay," Marcus informs him.
"Really? That's great! Where is it?"
"Well..." Marcus hesitates, deciding how to keep from telling Cole the truth.
Before Marcus has the opportunity to creatively evade telling him his new housemate is Frank, Cole is interrupted with an important phone call from his partner.
"I'm sorry Gian. I gotta put you on hold for a minute." Cole states. Moments later he returns. "Hey Gian. I apologize but I have to take this call and it will be awhile."
"Sure. No, it's fine," a relived Marcus responds. "We'll talk soon."
"Great. Bye." Cole switches back to the other line. "Ginny?"
"It's me," she replies.
"Thanks for doing this for me. I know I'm not supposed to be working on the case while I'm on leave but I just can't stop now."
"I understand, Cole. So, further decoding of the journal found at Cain's apartment the day of the break-in reveals that major Mafia activity is taking place in Twin Creeks, Virginia."
"I wonder if Cain could somehow be connected to the mob..." Cole utters.
"Could be, though I don't think so," Ginny tells him. "We haven't found anything suspicious on him."
"Aside from his recent trip to Twin Creeks."
"True," she grants. "Look, I'll keep you updated but I have to take another call."
"Sure. Thanks Ginny." Cole hangs up. "I wonder if Gian could have any ties to organized crime," he mumbles to himself apprehensively.

Ann to the driver: "But driver, I have an appointment at Lujoso Spa. It’s on the other side of town. This must be some sort of mistake——"
Marcus to Cole: "I have a new identity."
Frank to Marcus: "Ready to blow this popsicle stand?"
Gail to Rhonda: "I don’t know what makes you think that you can expect royal treatment from everybody but you certainly aren’t getting it from me."
